Look after your most valuable commodity - your staff.
So many companies overlook their often most valuable commodity……. The workers.
I have found that the more responsibility you allocate to your staff the better they perform, invariably they will take control of the tasks and “make it their own”, to such an extent that they would feel in some way let down if any of the assigned tasks were re-allocated.
Some would say this is unhealthy, in my experience if you allocate the right staff to the right position, you not only get the best out of the staff but the company benefits by the creation of a high level of expertise in these areas.
However, the key ingredient is being able to appreciate the often unique skillset that individuals possess.
A popular line of thought is that anyone can with the right training perform any task.
I have found in the vast majority of instances this is not the case.
I wonder (even with training, how Harry Kane would fare as a goalkeeper), individuals have natural talents, if you can identify those and match them to your company requirement, bingo.
As Henry ford famously stated “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress & working together is success”.
